Sampling too little or too much will affect the DNA extraction process and can result in a rejected sample or an invalid result. Therefore, sample recollection would be required. Your clinic will contact you to arrange for recollection and you will be offered a new kit to collect another sample.
For tube A, you should only sample 4-6 grams, which is approximately equivalent to the size of the first part of your thumb. Once you have placed your sample and the spoon in tube A, the total volume (liquid in the tube) should not exceed 25 mL. Please refer to the volume markers on the tube.
As compared to tube A, tube B does not require as much stool sample. Please do not try to “scoop” any stool with the serrated tip. Simply inserting the serrated tip on 5 different locations will ensure that the stool sample is sufficient.
